Our Image of the child
The image of the child refers to how we view and understand children. It reflects what we believe children are capable of and how they learn.

At WCK, we see children as competent and creative learner’s and thinkers. We understand they delight in the real and their imagined worlds.
We believe they are active participants in their learning, able to make choices, solve problems, build relationships and express their ideas in many ways.
This image influences everything we do — how we design learning environments, how educators interact with children, and how learning is supported and valued. When children are seen as strong and capable, they are more likely to feel confident, respected and empowered in their learning.

WCK Explorer Vision Statement

Children thrive at WCK, where there are spaces for playing, discovery, adventure and curiosity. We value responsive relationships with educators, families and local community, and these relationships create nurturing, secure and inclusive environments for children.

Our aim is to support children's exploration and learning within the context of close, supportive and deeply felt relationships with one another. We work with small groups of children collaboratively, closely involved in the processing of their interests and investigations.
We encourage children to delight in real and imagined worlds and connect deeply with nature, wild spaces and animals. Inspired by authentic interests and the natural world the children are actively encouraged to wonder, dream, invent and question.

We view children as creative thinkers. Our early learning programs are inquiry based, inviting significant learning through the process of inquiry, curiosity, researching, testing theories and reflections alongside trusted adults.
We invite the Woombye community to become engaged with our commitment to ongoing reflection and improvement to support our children to become dynamic thinkers equipped with essential skills for 21st century learning.
